Comedy Central carried this popular British show for sometime before making a mistake and not renewing their contract with BBC 4. Supposedly, amidst the contract talks, Disney stepped in and bought the rights for an initial 6 episodes to air on their ABC network.
The new shows just finished taping in Los Angeles and feature Drew Carey as the host of the show. As host he sets up various scenes for the four participants based on ideas from the studio audience. While having Disney at the helm meant a rather heavy handed censor (they wouldn't allow scenes involving a cross dresser, a freak show or a mortician) it was still great fun. At one point Greg Proops commented, "isn't this the network that has Ellen", Drew's response was "yeah, and where is Ellen now?"
The participants included Ryan Stiles, who also starred in the British version of the show and currently stars with Drew as Lewis on the Drew Carey show. Greg Proops and Colin Mochrie are also from the original cast. The fourth participant on the episode we saw was Wayne Brady who dominated all of the musical rounds. Overall, the cast had a great chemistry and the show was an absolute riot.
So in closing, check out Who's Line is it Anyway, currently scheduled to air right after the Drew Carey show for 6 weeks. Hopefully, everyone will tune in and Disney will pick up the show for the rest of the season!
