Pizza, Hamburgers and even groceries might just be a mouse click away!
Originally inspired by the movie The Net, Cybermeals has become the largest online restaurant ordering service. Check and see if any of your local favorites have signed up yet. Especially useful when you've moved into a new pad, just cleaned off the sofa and haven't even located the kitchen!
Update: I tried Cybermeals and found a number of choices in my area (San Diego). I wasn't aware half of those listed even delivered! You can view the menus and simply click ingredients/side dishes on and off, very cool. Problem is many of the higher end restaurants don't deliver themselves, but use a service instead. This tends to get you your food faster and hotter but it adds more cost to the delivery charge. TGI Fridays, had a $15 minimum for delivery (typical) but ended up tacking on a $9 delivery charge! If you can't get out of the house it's worth it, otherwise try to select more traditional delivery restaurants or use their take out menus.
For limited list of pizza joints in the United States try E-Pizza. Mainly advertisements but it gives you a little more information than the phone book and perhaps they'll upgrade to online ordering and menus sometime?
For a much more advanced site serving Australia, you need look no farther than Pizza Net Australia. A lovely site with an extensive menu and online ordering.
The comprehensive list on Toronto came from Send Me Food. While they don't have online ordering, they do offer some menus, an extensive choice of food types, and listings with phone numbers and delivery options.
Peapod currently delivers in Chicago, San Francisco/San Jose, Boston, Long Island, Dallas, Houston, Austin and Columbus and is continually expanding to service other areas. Since they haven't expanded to San Diego we haven't used their service, but all reports have been positive and the time you save by not having to go to the grocery store more than pays for the service!
And for those in the Seattle, Puget Sound area, you may just want to have all your groceries delivered to your door! Home Grocer, will do just that for a small fee (currently $35 per year plus delivery charges for all orders less than $75). The benefits are many: you can keep your own basic grocery list online adding and deleting at your leisure, and hey you don't have to go to the store, 'nuff said!
We ran across another "we deliver it all site" by the name of Net Grocer but haven't had the chance to order anything yet. It looks like they deliver everything via FedEx?? If you've utilized their services please let us know!
The perennial Pizza Hut, doesn't offer any online ordering we could find, but it does have a store locator and some fun facts that make it worth a visit.
